From the Telegraph & Argus of August 16th, 1950..."Don't worry" is the advice given to Bradford by the city's deputy Medical Officer of Health, Dr V P McDonagh, about the present outbreak of infantile paralysis. Dr McDonagh today quoted figures which should dispel any alarm in Bradford. He gave an assurance that the chances of any individual becoming infected were very slight. "So far Bradford has had 20 cases of infantile paralysis this year", he said, "and with a population of about 300,000, that is one case for every 15,000 persons".
