SKIPTON pupil Robert Newman knew he was good, he just didn't realise how good.
His A-level English Literature result was not just the A he was expecting but was one of the top five marks in the subject in the country.
Robert, 17, is a pupil at Ermysted's Grammar School and gained four As in his A-levels in English literature, economics, history and general studies.
Robert will be studying at Leeds University in September, and hopes to go on to a career in writing.
"I have always enjoyed English since I can remember because I love writing. I particularly enjoy literature from the 1920s. In my writing I like to break the rules."
Robert thanked his two teachers for being "top-notch" and will spend the rest of the summer relaxing until he goes to Leeds.
Headteacher Thomas Ashworth said: "Robert is an exceptional student and I wish him well."
