People who were members of the Keighley central youth club in the fifties and sixties are invited to a reunion next month.
Organised by Doreen Lee, formerly Bugler, it is hoped that as many people as possible will come to the party at Pilkys Bar on Heber Street to fondly remember their younger days.
Doreen says: "It used to be the focal point of Keighley. Everybody went and it was on every night of the week."
The youth club, held at the Alice Street Central Hall, was open to 14 to 21 year olds and attracted many people with its range of activities including painting, sewing, jiving, football and table tennis plus many organised days out.
Doreen says when the evenings ended the youngsters would wait to catch the bus home, sitting on the 'monkey bar' railing which used to line the Town Square.
"There was never any trouble. The monkey bar really was the place to be seen," says Doreen.
"Big gangs of us went there and we need these people to come forward and support us," she adds.
With tickets limited to only 200 Doreen says they will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.
Tickets are available from the fish and chip shop on South Street, run by a former youth club member who may be better known to her childhood friends as Irene Huckall.
Tickets are also available for the reunion on Saturday, September 9 from Doreen on 01535 667772.
