Haworth and Oakworth face each other in a Worth Valley Wynn Cup showdown on Sunday.

The neighbouring clubs have battled their way to the top of the pile in the Craven League, and although it looks to be a one-sided contest, the Haworth club will certainly have something to say about that.

Oakworth will undoubtedly start as odds-on favourites, justified by their place at the top of the First Division with eleven victories, while Haworth have only five league wins under their belts.

If they win it will be only the second time the Cure Hill side have got their hands on the trophy in their 21-years in the league.

Despite the absence of in-form John Crossley, oakworth look to have too many big guns in their armoury.

They are led the Michael Scarborough, possibly the bet all-rounder in the league, who will be backed up by Lee Hollingsworth, robert Hopkinson and youngster Adam Fradley.

They also have Graham Rankin who is on miserly form with the ball with Hopkinson and Kevin Hird providing the pace to back him up. The wily Jeff Inman has also tempted many batters to their doom with his leg spin.

Haworth are also far from a one-man team, but Damian Rowell could be the lynch pin to their success.

He is another all-rounder and has been in great form with the bat and ball this season.

It will need a big effort from those around him, Duncan Marsden, Jamie Rowell, Adrian Ratcliffe and skipper Richard Powell if they are to cause an upset.

The Rowell brothers, aided by the Godden brothers - Richard and Anthony - will look to do the damage with the ball.

Oakworth have been in the final on five occasions, winning once - back in 1995 - when they beat Pendle forest by four wickets at Barnoldswick.

Haworth have appeared once in the final in 1989 when the game was played at Gargrave. One their way to the game their bus suffered a puncture and they finally arrived just a few minutes before the start. Without even time for a knock-up they were in disarray and were swept aside by Cowling.

The teams have only met once previously in the competition, back in 1989, when Haworth won by five wickets in the third round.

The game is to be played at Oakworth, a decision taken back in January, and starts at 1.30pm. The match is sponsored by the Keighley office of Dacre, Son and Hartley.
