Keighley Cricket Academy and the area's Joe Lumb organisation joined forces to take on a strong touring side at Steeton.

The touring side from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates put up a strong performance, scoring 177.

The Academy side secured a seven wicket win.

An Academy XI was also in action to take on an Indian touring side which included eight players who have played at First Class level. The Academy team were dismissed for 69, but the visit led to an invitation to tour Indian, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

"We have made very good connections with the Indian touring side and they have offered to help organise a tour," said KCA spokesman Sarwar Kamal.

The Academy also played Nafeez CC of Keighley in a match to celebrate Pakistan's Independence Day. Nafeez scored 259-8 with Zafar Iqbal 121 not out, but the Academy secured a four-wicket win with man of the match Gulsheraz Ahmed scoring 135.
