From the Telegraph & Argus of August 21, 1975...There was a nostalgic atmosphere at the Midland Hotel, Bradford, as staff watched its fixtures and fittings come under the auctioneer's hammer. Collectors, caterers and the public bid for the hotel's carpets, curtains, furniture and kitchen utensils, as well as items of railwayana, 700 items in all.

From the Telegraph & Argus of August 21, 1950... The Bradford-born speedway rider Arthur Forrest, 18, was unbeaten with 15 points in the Odsal world championship round. Forrest's prize money for the evening totalled £96 17s 6d. including the £50 cheque for winning the round. He received 22s 6d a start, and 55s a point, about £17 10s each minute!
