Second Division leaders Gomersal dropped their first points of the season, apart from rain-affected matches, when they were held to a four-point draw at home by Esholt.

Consistent batting down the order from Steve Pollard (50) and Mark Harrison (65) enabled Gomersal to reach 225 for seven.

This total proved way beyond the reach of Esholt, who hung on for a point at 166 for nine.

Gomersal's match against Great Horton, scheduled for Sunday, was called off because they were involved in the Crowther Cup final and will now be played on Sunday, Sep-tember 3.

Gomersal still hold a nine- point lead over second-placed Idle, who lost by five wickets against great Horton at Idle before winning by seven wickets at Bankfoot. Dave Howker took seven for 58 as ten-man Bankfoot were bowled out for 159.

The club with the most successful record over the weekend were Spen Victoria with a ten-point haul. They won at Hartshead Moor by three wickets before having the better of a draw at Manningham Mills.

Pudsey Congs have a five- point lead at the top of the First Division after earning a four-point draw at nearest challengers Hanging Heaton.

After making 200, Congs made the home side struggle, but they hung on for a point at 147 for eight.

Third-placed Baildon, who had inflicted only the second defeat of the season on Congs the week before, easily beat ten-manYorkshire Bank by 125 runs at Jenny Lane. Opener Michael Royce scored 67 before James Butterfield (73) and Lee Spragg (81) shared an unbroken third-wicket stand of 137 to enable Baildon to reach 252 for two before bowling the Bank out for 127.

Fourth-placed Farsley lost ground when they went down by nine runs at Brighouse, whose 172 was dominated by S Wilson with 66.

There was also a close finish at Windhill, where the home team won by six runs against Bradford and Bingley. A Evans was Windhill's top scorer with 62 in their 183 in 40 overs.

Bingley's victory bid was led by opener Sazad Haider (76), but they were all out for 177 with 13.2 overs left.

Outstanding innings was 100 by East Bierley opener Paul Huddlestone at home to Cleck-heaton, but he finished on the losing side.
