The family of a Cleckheaton girl who died after battling cancer for 14 months has arranged another charity evening for the fund in her name.
The event, in aid of the Laura Crane Trust, will take place in Bertie's Banqueting Rooms in Elland in November and will feature after-dinner speakers and a charity celebrity auction.
Laura was a 15-year-old schoolgirl studying for her GCSEs when she became ill and was admitted to hospital.
After the removal of her right ovary, she was diagnosed as having a relatively uncomplicated form of cancer often successfully treated.
But it was later discovered that Laura had four different types of cancer - three of them very aggressive - and she died in May, 1996.
Former Huddersfield Police Detective Superintendent Peter Bottomley will be speak at the event about his observations of life and police work.
Items for auction on the night include a CD autographed by Cliff Richard, autographed framed photographs of Dame Judi Dench, Rowan Atkinson and Lenny Henry, an Italian raincoat belonging to Victoria Wood, Michael Aspel's silk bow tie and a framed poster of 'Kevin and Perry Go Large' signed by Harry Enfield.
The Laura Crane Trust was set up by her family five months after her death, primarily to fund research into the types of cancer which affect 15 to 25-year-olds. By April 2000, it had raised over £110,000.
Tickets are £24.50 and anyone wanting more information is asked to call (01484) 510013.
