Despite the rain which tore the cricket programme apart, including the whole of Division C, there were a number of games which made a significant impact on the tables.

Adel and Steeton each picked up four points from winning draws while Guiseley could only manage two and Rawdon got one for an abandoned fixture, leaving the race for the championship wide open with three matches to go.

Guiseley still lead on 79 points, one ahead of Adel. Steeton are third, six points back, while Rawdon are beginning to lose touch on 70 points.

Steeton's late charge in defence of their title saw them get the better of Guiseley in a match reduced to 37 overs per side.

Matthew Pinniger led the way with an invaluable 85, which included 11 fours and three sixes, as Steeton set a target of 182 for nine.

Barry McCormick, whose four-wicket spell took his tally in the last three games to 16, set about the Steeton attack, but after he was dismissed for 44 the visitors never looked likely to win. Guy Saxton bowled a tight spell of two for 11 as Guiseley limped to 157 for five.

Adel were denied a win against Knaresborough by an unbroken sixth wicket stand by Richard Tattersall and Derek Pickles who took them from 48 for five to 102 for five in answer to Adel's 124 for nine.

Silsden's inevitable relegation was finally sealed at Skipton, who cruised to an eight wicket win that not only put the visitors into Division B but virtually ensured their own survival.

Steve Young was the Skipton hero with season best figures of five for 28 as Silsden were dismissed for 106 in 47.1 overs. Aussie Shane Collins (31) was the only batsman to show any resistance.

Sean Atkinson (45) and Kevin Owen (30) helped Skipton to their third win in four outings, this achieved in 26.1 overs.

The results in Division B were no less significant, especially among the relegation places.

A couple of stirring wins had dragged Tong Park out of the bottom two but they suffered a setback at fellow strugglers Addingham who got the better of a rain-restricted draw, coming away with five points to Tong Park's one.

Andy Murray was Adding-ham's star man with a fine innings of 79 to give them a defendable total of 160 for eight which Tong Park could get nowhere near.

Horsforth also pulled off a surprise as skipper Bruce Rainford (40no) and Chris Binks (33) helped them to 204 for eight at Menston. The home side, wanting a win to give their promotion hopes a boost, were left struggling 47 short of victory despite 30 from Gary Thompson and 38 from James Robinson.

So Tong Park are now back at the bottom with 33 points, while Horsforth and Addingham are two points better off, with Illingworth still in danger on 39. Despite that setback, Menston pulled a point clear of Collingham, whose match against third placed Ilkley was rained off when they were 43 for two.
