Gunnar Halle scored a last- minute equaliser to give Bradford City a share of the points in their first home FA Premier Reserve League (North) match of the season against Sheffield Wednesday last night.

The match was moving into stoppage time with City still traling 2-1 when the Norwegian right back popped up in the centre forward position to receive a long pass from schoolboy international left back Lewis Emanuel.

Halle then coolly lobbed the ball into the net over the head of the advancing goalkeeper Paul Musselwhite for the equaliser.

City deserved their draw after trailing 2-0 at half-time, but in a five-minute spell just before their equaliser Wednesday were prevented from adding to their lead by Aidan Davison.

The City goalkepeer turned a shot from substitute James Tevendale over the bar and then stopped a shot from Owen Morrison with his legs after the Wednesday player had dribbled through the centre of the City defence.

The match marked the return to Valley Parade of former manager Paul Jewell, and he watched from the stand with his successor Chris Hutchings.

Jewell saw his new club go in front after 28 minutes when Morrison played a through pass down the inside left channel for 18-year-old Leeds-born midfield player Adam Muller to score.

Wednesday went further ahead after 37 minutes when experienced striker Richie Humphreys latched on to a through pass from Mark McKeever 35 yards from goal and took the ball past young defender Scott Bolton before slotting it beyond the advancing Davison.

Humphreys went close on two more occasions before half-time as City had hardly a worthwhile shot on target to match their neat first half football.

City received international clearance less than two hours before kick-off to play Peruvian trialist midfield player Antony Matellini, and he laid on their first goal five minutes after the interval.

The Peruvian under-21 international played the ball into the path of Wayne Jacobs, and the left back scored a goal which any striker would have been proud. of.

Musselwhite had no chance of stopping his low, left-foot shot into the far bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.

That goal put City back in the game, but still Wednesday created the better chances until Halle's dramatic equaliser.

Matellini ,who has been recommended to City, showed promise with his intelligent use of the ball.

Hutchings said: "I thought he passed the ball quite well, but he had only had one training session with us before last night's game and we will see how he adjusts to English football.

"He has got a British mother and so he speaks good English and he would like to play in this country. I would like another look at him."

Hutchings added: "I thought we had the better of the game in the first half and ended up conceding two goals.

"It was a excellent goal from Wayne Jacobs and Gunnar Halle took his very well too.

"We had some young boys at the back and it was good experience for them."
