Chairman Chris Caisley insists the Bulls have what it takes to bounce back from their Wigan disappointment and gain revenge by lifting the Super League Trophy.

The agonising 20-19 defeat at the JJB Stadium on Sunday night has all but ended their hopes of finishing in top spot, but Caisley says it will only serve to galvanise the club's efforts to add to their Challenge Cup success.

"We played a tremendous game of rugby at Wigan and, while it was a sickener to lose in that way, I firmly believe that if we continue to play in that manner from now through to the Grand Final we have every chance of winning it.

"If that result had gone our way on Sunday I think we would have gone on to finish top, and all the advantages that brings in the play-offs.

"Now we have to take a slightly more difficult route, but I am confident we can still come up with the goods.

"The fans have an important part to play too. They were tremendous again at Wigan, and if we do have some difficult away games in the play-offs they can be a big plus for us."

Caisley is now looking forward to Sunday's grudge clash with neighbours Halifax and hoping the side can maintain the much improved form they showed at the weekend.

"Halifax are drumming the game up and saying that they will shake us up again, but we will just have to wait and see about that."

Meanwhile, it appears the Rugby Football League will not be taking any further action over the clash between Bulls coach Matthew Elliott and Executive Director Greg McCallum at Sunday's game.

Elliott made comments to McCallum in the stand over the performance of referee Russell Smith, but has since apologised for the incident.

McCallum was not available for comment today but RFL spokes-man John Huxley said: "No further statement is being issued."

The in-form Bulls Alliance take on champions Wigan at Odsal tonight (7.30).

l The reformed Gateshead Thun-der have appointed former Wake-field Trinity Wildcats boss Andy Kelly as their new coach. Kelly has signed a two-year contract with the Tynesiders.
