From the Telegraph & Argus of August 31st, 1975... Too many players lost their heads, the referee lost control, and Rugby League was the real loser, as Bradford Northern beat Bramley 28 to 12. From the Telegraph & Argus of August 31st, 1950... Ready to "shoot it out" at Valley Parade Barracks tomorrow, for the privilege of firing a bullet at PC Frank Harris, Bradford's policeman-cum-magician, are 12 crack riflemen. They answered his calls for volunteers to fire a bullet which he will "catch in his teeth'' at the Valley Gardens, Harogate, on September 22. "Five people have already been killed trying to do this trick," Mr Harris told the Telegraph & Argus today at his home in Chelmsford Road. "That is why I want a pretty good marksman.'' (He performed the trick successfully.)
