FOLLOWING a washout on Saturday the Secure Trust Bank Bradford League season looks set for a thrilling climax.
Any one of a handful of clubs could yet clinch the title with the Patrick Fordham skippered Bradford and Bingley and the Matthew Doidge skippered Pudsey Congs sharing joint top spot at the moment.
Congs were unable to take on lowly Lidget Green on Saturday when rain wiped out the programme.
Over the remaining three weeks of the season some interesting clashes are lined up. Just 11 points cover the leaders and fifth placed Cleckheaton.
Cleckheaton could yet have a big say in where the title goes. They have home games against both Baildon and Pudsey Congs and they also have to visit defending champions Hanging Heaton.
The double programme on the weekend of September 9 and 10 could well prove decisive and nobody has a tougher schedule over those two days than Fordham's Bradford and Bingley.
They visit Baildon on the Saturday and then entertain title dark horses Hanging Heaton on the Sunday. Fordham will be hoping that Aussie paceman Richard McCarthy maintains his excellent form. 'Macca' has responded well to losing pace partner David Pennett to Yorkshire League club Harrogate and he has seen the development of young spinner Richard Wilkinson bring a boost to the side.
Bingley also have former Yeadon skipper Peter Graham in their ranks so when it comes down to holding your nerve they will be well prepared.
Pudsey Congs, who are bidding for their first ever Bradford League title appear to have the easier run in but the programme planners could not have got it better than a final day clash between Congs and Bradford and Bingley at Pudsey.
