First Division side Pudsey Royal made their debut in the Senior Cup and knocked out Premier Division club Hudsons 3-2.
Danny Budge was the hero for Royal, scoring twice including the late winner.
Also playing in the competition for the first time were Rawdon who avenged their earlier league defeat against Wrose Bull by coming back from 2-1 down to win 4-2.
With ex-Thornton players in both sides there was special interest in the tie at Rhodesway where last season's finalists Fairweather Green were brought down to earth by a typical battling display from Queensbury.
After the Premier Division side had gone into a 2-0 lead Fairweather came back into the game when Andy Shanks' shot slipped into the net. Queensbury got stronger in the second half and Grant Cooper scored their third goal.
Four goals from Vinny Archer and a hat-trick from Talc Hussain - his second in four days - saw Albion Sports beat Dudley Hill Rangers 7-3.
Also 7-3 winners were East Bowling Unity. They found themselves 2-1 down at half-time to Eccleshill United who had scored through two well-taken free kicks by Scott Price.
But Unity came back after the break, Dave Elvidge taking his tally to ten goals in three games with a third hat-trick.
Two goals from new signing Richard Dyson enabled Craven Heifer to record their first win, 2-0 against spirited Wyke.
The second meeting of the season between Calverley Victoria and Bradford Moor produced a great game which Moor won 3-2, Hassan Terralong scoring two.
East Ward could not repeat their giant killing of last season when they knocked Ventus out of cup competition. This time Ventus won 3-2 after extra time with defender Jimmy Braime claiming the winner.
The Swaine brothers Craig and David were on target for Westwood who survived an opening assault from Springfield to win 5-0.
Hare & Hounds never recovered from losing four early goals against Oakenshaw who ran out 6-1 winners, Mick Burke scoring a hat-trick.
In the first round of the Amateur Cup Asif Hussain converted a penalty and a 35-yard free kick as Heaton United maintained their unbeaten start and their standing as one of the favourites for the competition with a 4-1 win at British Queen.
Ventus United Reserves lost 3-2 against Bangladeshi Youth.
Red Lion beat Shoulder of Mutton 11-0.
After a good start Nab Wood Juniors were leading twice against Napoleon in the second round of the competition, but Napoleon came back to steal the game 3-2.
Prince of Wales came back after being 5-3 down at half-time against Towngate Athletic and ran out 7-5 winners.
In the only Premier League game Bolton Woods ran out easy 6-0 winners over nine-man Stanley Road.
