Westwood's agent Paul Stretford said: "We are currently in discussions with Wednesday about terms.
"It has been great for Ashley to play in the first team at Wednesday, but by the same token if things don't work out for us in our negotiations he will be happy to go back to Bradford for the remaining season of his contract.
"He has done well for Wednesday during his loan spell, but it will require the personal terms to be right for a deal to be done."
