Dudley Hill suffered their third defeat of the season as they went down to a robust West Hull in the Premier Division.
Dudley Hill started off the stronger and pressure paid off in the tenth minute when prop Phil Wortley crashed over for a try after an inside ball from hooker Mark Gibson, which was converted by Chris Moxon.
A mistake from Hill led to West's first score when the ball was thrown wide directly from the scrum. Glynn Jones raced in after 13 minutes.
Seven minutes later a jinking run from Mark Harris set up prop Mark Johnson who went in unopposed from 20 metres, Dave Roe accepting the kick.
With Hull on the ascendancy, Phil Stephenson darted under the posts in the 33rd minute to give Roe an easy conversion. Things looked bleak for Hull five minutes later as Chris Verity stormed over for an unconverted try.
It was the home side however that finished the scoring in the first half when Danny Whiteley chipped the defence on the visitors' 25 and Gibson juggled the ball under the posts to give Moxon the extras.
Hill came out fired up in the second half and were rewarded in the 46th minute when slick handling from youngsters Liam Bentley and Gareth Walker allowed Moxon to slide over near the posts for a try which he failed to convert.
Wests were under pressure for the next ten minutes but they rallied after 56 minutes when a lapse in defence saw Jones grab his second try, converted by Wayne Harris who had taken over kicking duties.
The visitors had most of the possession at this stage and an entertaining game was spoiled a little with a couple of clashes, resulting in the dismissal of second row forward Steve Fletcher for alleged use of the elbow after 65 minutes.
An attack from Hull with three minutes left saw Jones claim his hat-trick as he touched down on the overlap, leaving Hill to reflect on a better performance but no points to show for it.
