A VILLAGE station celebrated the completion of its £360,000 revamp with an official launch.
Transport bosses gathered at Menston Station on Tuesday to see an official opening ceremony performed by the chairman of the of the Commission for Integrated Transport, Professor David Begg.
The key partners in the station's facelift - rail operator Northern Spirit, Railtrack and West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority - celebrated transforming the station from an unmanned platform to a full 'passenger interchange'.
As well as the ticket office, which was opened last year, the station now boasts a 100-space car park, a CCTV security system, customer information screens, and a bus link with Otley.
Those responsible for the project said the station was now attracting commuters who did not previously travel by train.
Coun Mick Lyons, chairman of West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority, said: "Menston Station is now an important interchange, with the specially designated bus line W9 from Otley proving very popular for people who previously might never have considered taking the train to be an option."
Prior to the refurbishment, the station had not been staffed for more than 30 years.
