FAMILY members are in
mourning for a Yeadon teenager killed in a horrific Sunday morning smash with a bus.
Seventeen-year-old Glen Sample, of Plane Tree Grove, was one of three teenagers who died after their yellow Vauxhall Corsa lost control and collided with an Arriva bus on Spen Lane, Cleckheaton.
His father told the Wharfedale Observer the family was
devastated, and wanted to grieve in private.
Glen was the front seat
passenger in the Corsa when the accident happened, at 11.30am on Sunday morning (September 10).
He and two 19-year-old friends, Jon Tinker from Green Hill Bank, New Mill, Huddersfield, and Lee Varley from Fairway Drive, Normanton, were taken to Dewsbury District Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Off-duty Cleckheaton firefighter Adrian Murphy attempted to give first aid to the teenagers at the scene, while his wife called the emergency
services. He said: "The car was side on to the bus, on the bus's side of the road. You never get used to seeing accidents, even in this job, and turning up to one 'cold' is worse."
Two passengers on the service 227 bus were slightly injured, and were also taken to hospital.
An inquest into Glen's death was opened yesterday (Wednesday) at Huddersfield Coroner's Court.
Dewsbury Traffic Police are still looking for witnesses to the crash.
