THE Bradford Cricket League is set for a final day showdown when two local men will be chasing the championship dream.
Guiseley's Patrick Fordham leads Bradford and Bingley in their quest to oust Pudsey Congs from the top spot. Congs, led by Horsforth's Matthew Doidge, will be looking to hang on to their two point advantage to clinch their first ever title.
Congs did gain a ten wicket win over an understrength Cleckheaton on Sunday but when no other games were played due to the incessant rain then the result was void.
Now it is all down to the last day and no doubt Cong s will be hoping it rains again. The title would then be theirs without putting anything at risk.
Bingley hit back on Saturday after being restricted to 92-9 as former Rawdon bowler Craig Hitchenor took 4-32.
However, it was that man Richard McCarthy who stole the limelight once more. The Aussie has been in superb form this season and he claimed 6-17 and backed up by 4-17 from Peter Graham Baildon were humiliated for 49.
Congs had a four wickets win over Farsley who made 193-8 with former Adel player Mark Whitehead making an unbeaten 114. For Congs Neil Nicholson with 53 no, Andrew Bethel with 47 and James Middlebrook with 31 batted solidly to bring a vital win.
Yeadon staved off the threat of relegation with a comfortable five wickets win over Windhill who were dismissed for 72. John Roper
added another six wickets to his impressive tally traking 6-17 off 14 overs while Darren Murray had 3-33.
Yeadon lost both openers without scoring but an unbeaten 20 from Naeem Khan and 19 no from Australia bound Craig Thornton saw them home.
