The Leeds game was a tremendous one to play in and it was a great win fore us. It was a tough hard game, as all Leeds games have been this season and they beat us by a couple of points here a few weeks ago.
There was a thought that the game would be a bit of a damp squib, with no Top Five place at stake but Leeds games are never like that. If nothing else there is always a lot of pride at stake. There was a big crowd and a great atmosphere and that always gives the players a big lift and I thought we put on a good show for the public.
There was a time when games like that at the end of the season had big scores because there was no defence but with the play-offs looming both sides put on a great defensive show. We took our two chances, one in each half and I thought we were worthy winners in the end.
We had a bit of a night out after the game and we took Adrian Morley with us. He thought Leeds was the place to be but after Friday he's definitely a Bradford convert. He loved it!
This week we have another tough game at Hull. It is the last Super League game of the season and it is never easy at the Boulevard. I think Matty will bring a few of the younger players into the squad for this week's match. They have played well in the 'A' team this season and they deserve a go in the first team. They will know they have been in a game when they run out at the Boulevard.
The Ireland squad for the World Cup has now been announced and it is with some regret that I have had to pull out through injury. I have been looking forward to it all season but the specialist has advised me to get my knee sorted out as soon as the season ends. I have been carrying it now for a while and I need to be ready to start training again around Christmas so as to be fit for the Challenge Cup in February and give it a good go for next season. It will be a big season next year and it is vitally important that I get my injury sorted out.
This week will see the Bulls 'Player of the Year' Awards at Pennington's Variety Club. I don't know who has won but I would like to mention two players who I think should definitely win something. Brian McDermott and Mike Forshaw have both had tremendous years with us and players like them are the backbone of the team and don't get the recognition that they deserve. We'll talk more about the awards next week when I will have my say on who has won and who hasn't.
One Award that I do know about is going to Justin Brooker. He has got his award for services to dogs. He has done a lot for dogs lately and the award is fully justified! Actually I said he could have a paragraph in the column this week but the Editor has said that there isn't enough space available and it has had to be cut!
It is a big week for Leeds United, they have had a disappointing start to the season and that is due to the fact that they haven 't really strengthened in the Off Season.
There have been a few players that have been available that I think would have done a good job for us and we need to build the squad up to compete.
The loss to Manchester City was a big disappointment and the game against Coventry didn't reach many heights but with the injuries we have at the moment I can't see a way out of it. We have one of the biggest game in the history of the club, against Barcelona coming up and I can see it being a struggle.
