A family has shorn its collective locks in a bid to thank staff at Bradford Royal Infirmary who treated their daughter.
Laura Brown, 19, from Allerton, suffers from Hodgkin's disease, a cancer of the lymphatic system, and has just completed a course of chemotherapy.
She still has to undergo further treatment but has progressed so much that her family decided to do something to thank staff at the hospital's haematology unit on ward seven.
But what began as a simple sponsored headshave snowballed into something much bigger, said her dad, Kevin.
"It just escalated with people we know contacting us with other ideas, and the money just keeps pouring in," he said.
Laura's mother, Barbara, said: "She's very well known in Allerton so everybody was devastated when they found out she had Hodgkin's Disease, and they wanted to do what they could to help."
Two weeks ago a 15-strong group of volunteers, including Laura, Barbara, Kevin and Kevin junior, Laura's brother, set off on a fancy dress pub collection from Allerton to Bradford city centre.
The event was topped off by an evening head shave and the combined events have brought in around £1,100, with the Browns confident of reaching a £1,500 target early in the new year.
All the proceeds will go to the Annette Fox Leukaemia Research Fund, which helps fund research, equipment and care for patients at the hospital with blood disorders.
Consultant haematologist at BRI, Adrian Williams, said: "We are highly delighted with the fund-raising and also delighted with the way she's responding to treatment."
