Skipton were unable to keep Steeton's title hopes alive when they went down by six-wickets to present Guiseley with the Aire-Wharfe Cricket League title for the first time since 1973. Their win at Sandylands, coupled with Adel's home defeat by Rawdon, handed them the title.
Skipton were skittled out for just 107 with Nick Allitt doing the damage, finishing with six for 65. Mick Scott, batting at 10, top scored for Skipton with 20.
There might have been a glimmer of hope when Guiseley wickets fell with the score on 13 and 34, but Taylor (39) and Ross (38) ensured there were to be no shocks.
Silsden gained their first win in 21 attempts, a two-wicket win at Bilton. Key to success for Silsden was an outstanding all-round display from Andy Pullen. He returned 5-50 from 24 overs as the home side were dismissed for 114 and then produced a match-winning innings when Silsden were in dire distress at 49-8.
His unbeaten 45 saved Silsden, crucial support coming at the death from Mark Akrigg and Adrian Emmott.
Despite a resounding victory Steeton missed out on championship glory when Guiseley's victory gave them the league title.
However, overall it has been a successful year for the club who could finish in second spot, providing they beat Skipton in their last game tomorrow (Saturday).
