Hudson Smith has added motivation this weekend despite the fact that the Bulls are certain to finish in third spot whatever the outcome of tomorrow's visit to the Boulevard.
The speedy Aussie back-rower narrowly missed out on selection for the Challenge Cup final at Murrayfield in April and never made the play-offs in Australia but has the chance on the east coast to make sure he's not the forgotten man when buisness end of the season commences next week.
"I've spent a lot of time on the bench this season and I did in Australia too but if you ask any player they'll tell you they would prefer to be on from the start.
"But I had more game time last week and am starting tomorrow so I have a good chance to show what I can do.
"There are no injuries at the moment and that means that competition for places next week is going to be even more intense. That's why no-one can afford to take their foot of the gas tomorrow."
Smith showed his value to the side last week with a fine display against the Rhinos when he came off the bench to act as a prop deputy for the unavailable Stuart Fielden.
"I've played all over the place during my career so it was nothing new to me but it was good to get more time on the field in such a big game."
Now Smith will be one of three experienced pack heads as coach Matthew Elliott rests some big names ahead of next's Friday qualifying play-off.
"The young lads have deserved this chance and, having seen them in a few games this season, I don't think they will let anyone down.
"Paul Sykes has all the skills and the young props Chris Birchall and Gareth Handford will work away all day. Rob Parker also hits the ball up very well while Craig McDowell is a very skilful operator too.
"It will be up to David Boyle, Brad Mackay and myself to provide a lead for the youngsters but they will be full of enthusiasm anyway and that should rub off on everyone.
"We have been training with the younger lads all week and we have come together very well as a group.
"Hull is not an easy place to go but the spirit is very good and hopefully we can come away with another win to send us into the play-offs on the right note."
The form of Wigan and St Helens has been grabbing all the headlines in recent weeks but Smith believes that may work to the Bulls advantage.
"It was Bradford this and Bradford that at one time but not many people seem to fancy our chances at the moment and that suits us fine.
"There is still a lot of confidence in the camp and we really can't wait to get on with the real business now."
