Police today appealed for witnesses to a road accident that claimed the life of a Bradford woman.
The crash happened at about 7am on Saturday in Westgate Hill Street, Tong Street, opposite the Duke of William pub. The dead woman was today named as 36-year-old Joanne Zaccardelli, of Holme Wood, Bradford.
She had to be cut free from the wreckage of her white Peugeot after it hit a lamp-post. Mrs Zaccardelli suffered serious injuries and was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary, where she died.
The exact details of what happened are not yet known, but no other vehicles are believed to have been involved. A police spokesman said: "The car was travelling towards Leeds along Westgate Hill Street when it collided with a lamp standard. We would appeal for anyone who saw the crash, or anyone who saw the vehicle prior to the incident, to contact police on 0845 6060606."
