Bradford-born Olympic medallist Yvonne McGregor will be given a civic reception when she returns from Sydney.
The 39-year-old from Wibsey became the first British woman ever to win an Olympic cycling medal when she took bronze in the 3,000m individual pursuit yesterday.
Bradford Lord Mayor Coun Stanley King announced she would be honoured at City Hall and declared: "This is a remarkable achievement.
"I am not at all surprised that a Bradford woman has succeeded so brilliantly. I am looking forward to meeting her and thanking her for the tremendous boost she has given the district."
