Cowling RESERVES completed an early season double over Barrowford United with a 4-1 midweek victory.
The South Craven side's goals were scored by James Anson, Alasdar McEwan, Stevie Ben Allwood and an own goal.
Bronte Wanderers Reserves drew 2-2 at Silsden Athletic with David Nelson opening the scoring for Bronte before an own goal put Silsden level. Jamie Cunningham gave the Cobbydale side the lead but Bronte levelled through Robert Atkinson on 75 minutes.
Lothersdale Athletic travelled to Oxenhope took the lead against a strong home side through mark Westfall. Oxenhope drew level just after the break through Simon Knaggs only to see Phillip Richardson restore Dale's lead. Peter Barry put the Worth Valley outfit level again and Knaggs grabbed a late winner.
Bronte Wanderers had a comfortable 6-0 victory over Keighley Lifts reserves in Division One who struggled to get a team together. Bronte dominated from the start, scoring twice in the first have and added four in the second period. Goals came from Neill Rollins (4), Ian Maude and Dean Kelly.
Cowling and Embsay Reserves shared two goals and the points in a 1-1 draw. Cowling were well on top in the early stages but were unable to score, but claim they had two good goals disallowed. Embsay were first to get on the official score sheet but a diving header restored the balance for Cowling late in the game.
On Saturday Bronte Wanderers Reserves entertained Ilkey AFC Youth in a battle of two newly-promoted teams. By half time the Keighley side could have had it won, but they failed to take their chances. Having weathered the storm Ilkley scored through McTigue and added a second through Hey. Bronte finally hit the net through James Ley but a late goal made certain Ilkley took the points.
Lothersdale Athletic were quickly on the attack in their home match against Skipton LMS Reserves and were rewarded with a John Lawrence goal. Dale missed many simple chances before Lawrence made it 2-0. LMS came more into the game in the second half keeping Dale's forwards at bay, but could not find the net.
Silsden Athletic travelled to Grindleton looking for their first victory of the season and were rewarded with a 4-0 win. Athletic missed a penalty before Tom Driver opened the scoring. A second penalty was converted by Shaun Whittaker with Jamie Cunningham making it 3-0 at half time. Grindleton missed a penalty of their own in the second half and Tom Driver wrapped things up with Silsden's fourth goal.
Cowling Reserves entertained Oxenhope Recreation Reserves who took their chances to pinch the game. Steven Mirfield opened the scoring for the visitors with Alasdair McEwan equalising, but second half goals from Darren Whittaker and Steve Buckley gave Oxenhope the points.
In Division One Keighley Lifts Reserves travelled to Intake and came back with both points. Intake had most of the pressure but could not score, Ishaq Zaman opened the Lifts account. Intake equalised and it was anybody's game until Ishfaq scored his second.
Sutton FC battled through without substitutes against Skipton Town and were two down at the break. Keith Lowe pulled one back and as the South Craven side fought to find an equaliser they were hit by three more Town goals to take the honours.
Oxenhope Recreation were looking to get back to winning ways in the Silentnight Premier Division after their midweek defeat at the hands of Colne Cricket Club. They were soon in command against Cononley sports and two Paul Sewell goals gave them a comfortable half time cushion. Steve Buckley added two more and Michael sharp chipped in for a convincing victory.
Keighley Lifts entertained Grindleton looking for their first points of the season. Tony Cooper opened the scoring for Lifts with a fine solo run and Keith Spence made it 2-0. Grindleton pulled a goal back but strikes from Steve Duff and Tony Cooper gave the Keighley side victory.
Referees are reminded that they are invited to a meeting with league officials on Monday, September 18 at the Three Links Club, Skipton at 8pm, petrol supplies permitting.
