Despite a resounding victory Steeton missed out on championship glory when Guiseley's victory gave them the league title.

However, overall it has been a successful year for the club who could finish in second spot, providing they beat Skipton in their last game tomorrow (Saturday).

At the beginning of the game all was the play for as Steeton were six points behind in top spot with 12 points still up for grabs.

Batting first Steeton made a very good 248 for six, thanks to the club's strength in depth with most of the batting line-up contributing.

Matthew Pinniger shone with a superb 84 and Robert Wynn also used his experience to knuckle down for a vigilent 34.

However, the major contribution of the game came with the ball as young Steeton Star Guy Saxton once again impressed. He ripped through the Follifoot line-up finishing with eight for 39 from his 17 overs -- including six clean bowled. Follifoot were eventually dismissed for 111 and left completely shellshocked.

Despite the fact that the ultimate prize has gone Steeton are determined to finish with a flourish in tomorrow's derby game, especially before the Keighley Cup final which is to be replayed on Sunday at Keighley CC's Lawkholme Lane ground.

Silsden grabbed their first win of the season after Andy pullen picked up five wickets to dismiss Bilton for 114.

The relegated side did its best to loose the game as they slumped from 43-2 to 49-7 before Pullen produced 45 not out to rescue the team.

Oliver Gledhill scored 68 to save Steeton 2ndsfrom complete humiliation against Follifoot.

The visitors ran up a total of 260-7 which was beyond the Summerhill second string. Gledhill was the only batsmen to get into double figures until No10 Ian Sewell reached 11 with a late flourish as the side was dismissed for 121.

Silsden's 2nds last pair, Dave Baluk and Mick Harwick held out for 10 overs to earb a draw against promoted Bilton 2nds. The hometeam had earlier made 193-4 thanks to 75 not out from Heptinstall.

In reply Hugh Sugden scored a quick 30 but after he was out only Ian Sagar (27) and Paul Bainbridge (16) made any progress.
