Another key piece in the jigsaw for the future prosperity of Keighley was put in place this week.
The town has been selected to host a centre as part of the initiative to make computers and Internet access accessible to all.
If that wasn't tremendous news in itself, even better for town is that the Keighley project will be one of the biggest in the country.
The project will see 65 computers with video cameras and Internet links installed in at least four locations around the town.
The new and exciting opportunities it will open up are immeasurable. The most staggering figure is that and extra 400 people a week will be trained in IT and other related skills.
It is comforting to know that behind the scenes there is a great deal of work being done to keep a healthy, wealthy and caring community and workforce for the future. All those involved should take a bow.
The system will also involve video-conferencing
facilities. A high-street finance house recently revealed it had saved several millions of pounds in travel and fuel costs using video conferencing as part of its energy
efficiency programme.
A more than interesting observation in the wake of the fuel protests which have brought the country to the brink of collapse.
