Police are urging the elderly to be on their guard after two bogus officials stole money from a pensioner's house in Rastrick.
The incident happened at around 1.40pm on Monday in Highfield Road. The elderly occupant of the house heard a knock on the window and went to the front door. She saw a man who held up a card which she did not get the chance to see.
He beckoned her to go outside and began to point at the pavement. While he distracted her, a second man entered the house and stole money from a purse which was on a chair in the living room. The two ran off towards shops in Field Lane.
The first man was described as being 5ft 8in tall, overweight, in his mid-30s, with ginger short hair and a goatee beard. He wore a black leather bomber jacket.
The second man was around 6ft 2in tall, of slim build, in his mid-20s, with black curly hair and a black moustache, wearing a three-quarter length black jacket and dark jeans and shoes. He spoke with an Irish accent.
