HIS Royal Highness the Prince of Wales will be visiting Craven again next month.
Prince Charles will be in the area on Monday October 2 to look at a major project at Malham Tarn Field Centre which has completely restored a former stable block into an accommodation centre.
High Stables, built as part of Tarn House, was taken over by the National Trust and Field Studies Council (FSC) in the 1940s and had fallen into a state of disrepair.
Its prominent twin towers had to be demolished after being deemed unsafe. "It was generally in a bit of a state and used for storage," said Jo Wilkes, of the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust.
A partnership project between the millennium trust and the FSC has seen the building completely refurbished, including the reinstatement of the two towers.
It now boasts 26 bedrooms, some with disabled access, used for schools, universities and the public.
Prince Charles is patron of the trust and the FSC and will be shown full details of the restoration work.
"We are all absolutely thrilled that he will be visiting," added Jo, the trust's project manager.
The Prince will arrive at Giggleswick Station before his visit to Malham. He then goes on to tour projects in Pateley Bridge and in other parts of North Yorkshire.
