Steeton were left to regret their modest start to the season in the Airedale & Wharfedale Cricket League when their final win at home to Skipton left them tied with Guiseley at the top of the table.
Both sides finished with 91 points after Guiseley had been beaten by third-placed Adel on the final day, but defending champions Steeton had to hand over the title because they had won fewer games.
Mark Wilson (101) and Guy Saxton (8.30) vied for the Man of the Match award against Skipton. A 5-43 return from Mick Scott helped restrict the home side to 174-9, but once Saxton got to work, that total always looked ample.
Steve Young offered solid resistance with 59 and Scott chipped in with 24, but Saxton's destructive 14-over spell was too much for the visitors, who fell for 107.
