WHARFEDALE face Fylde at Threshfield on Saturday needing a win to put them in credit in their National Division Two programme and to establish them among the front runners.
Competition in the division promises to be very even this season. After three games, only Rosslyn Park have a 100 per cent record.
WThe Dalesmen predictably go into action with an unchanged line-up from the side which crushed West Hartlepool and will be keen to emulate their 23-3 success in January when the Ansdell men were last at Wharfeside Avenue. They also have memories of a defeat at a rain-soaked Fylde earlier in the season to protect them against complacency.
"It's hard to judge just how good Fylde are," says Director of Rugby, Michael Harrison: "They beat West Hartlepool, who don't look that strong, but went down 34-21 at Bracknell, who appear to be one of the sides to look out for.
"Basically, any side hoping to do well must win its home games. That's vital and I expect that Fylde will be a tough proposition. We need to be on our game."
Skipton look to build on their win at Old Otliensians last week when they entertain Moortown in Yorkshire Three. They have 'Geordie' Porter back at centre after missing last week's match, but otherwise they go with the same line-up.
So far this season, Moortown have lost their only league game when they went down 16-6 at Leeds Corinthians, but they hit back with a Tetley's Vase win at home to Burley.
Less of an imponderable for the Reds is the next round of the Tetley's Bitter Vase, which brings last weekend's opponents, Old Otliensians, to Sandylands on October 7.
North Ribblesdale visit one of the most successful clubs in the county tomorrow when they travel to Huddersfield YMCA.
Although a defeat by Wheatley Hills in their only Yorkshire One game to date suggests that the bubble may have burst at Laund Hill, more likely 'YM' have at last found their rightful place in the pecking order.
