Keighley Amateurs performers are joined by newcomers in leading roles for the musical Oklahoma!. Several familiar faces will be seen on the Victoria Hall stage in the popular cowboy musical at Victoria Hall on October 9-16.
Barbara Boothroyd, Keighley's long-time panto principal girl, plays Aunt Eller, one of the leading lights in the frontier community where the musical is set.
Queensbury woman Katrina Wood plays Laurey, a ranch girl who is loved by both cowboy Curly and sinister farm hand Jud. Katrina played a leading role in the musical Mack and Mabel recently in Halifax, as well as Nancy in Ilkley Amateurs' version of Oliver!.
Silsden man Richard Aldham, who plays major roles across the district, returns to Keighley to play Curly, and Keighley regular Chris Blackie is Jud. Another love triangle concerns good-time girl Ado Annie, who is wooed by peddler Ali Hakim and cowboy Will.
Alison Broadley plays Annie after several appearances at Keighley Playhouse and in last year's Magic of the Musicals in Glusburn. Her suitors are played by Peter Whitley, star of Me and My Girl at Keighley, and young actor/producer Steven Clark.
Other parts are played by Keighley stalwarts Robert Lister and Amanda Church-Michael, long-time chorus member Peter Moon, and Bingley Amateurs member Mark Brown.
Tickets for Oklahoma! are on sale at Keighley Information Centre in the town hall.
