ONLY four games were played in the Wharfedale Sunday Footbal League due to District cup competitions.
Stanbury Park Rangers of the Premier Division have taken full advantage of the fact and move into second place after their win over Sandy Lane. It was Sandy Lane who took the lead after a fast opening start by both sides and a mistake in the Stanbury defence left D Strathie able to round the keeper to give Sandy Lane the edge, but Stanbury pulled themselves together and put Sandy Lane under pressure and were rewarded with two goals from David Bainbridge and Craig Labbett to give them a half-time lead of 2-1.
Again it was Sandy Lane who started the Second half the better and were soon level again. It was D Strathie who found the target for them, but the home side finished the stronger and with ten minutes left Simon Waddington gave Stanbury the lead again and with about five to go a ferocious volley from Mick Thompson sealed the points in favour of the home side.
Elsewhere in the premier Silsden stay top after beating Boltmakers Arms by 7-1 with Nick Ward leading the way with a hat trick and with two from M McClennan the Boltmakers fate was sealed. Mark Rosser and Rick Johnson added one each for Silsden and replying for Boltmakers was a lonely goal from A Barker.
Keighley Juniors are another side who hit seven this week but it was Royal FC who took the lead with a Nick Fawell goal. With two from Ryan Hook it gave Keighley the half-time lead and in the second half Keighley, who scored again, went on to win without a reply from Royal who played well but with Ward adding to his first half goals and four coming from Howard Wellwood, three coming from the penalty spot, the points went to the home side, moving them into third spot.
In the first division the only game on was another seven goal win as Bay Horse over ran JPL Victoria with six goals coming in the first half, two for K Knowd and I Capper and one each for A Thornton and Mick Aaron with Dean Lamb replying for JPL. In the second half only one goal was scored and that came from Ian Hutchinson to finish the scoring for Bay Horse who go top of the division.
