Skipton visitors to Silsden Athletic maintained their 100 per cent record with a 5-1 victory and though well deserved, rather belittles Silsden's part in the game.
Silsden defended well in the first half and restricted an attack which had scored 15 goals in their last two games to two goals. They went one better in the second period, scoring three with the home team getting a consolation goal. Skipton's scorers were a hat trick for D Sharp and one each for Ian Barnard and Ian Tyrer. Stuart Lidbury scored Silsden's only goal.
A cracking game saw Cottingley and Shoulder (ex Raiseprint) share eight goals with the result in doubt until the final whistle and honours even. The visitors opened the scoring in the fifth minute, only for the home team to take the lead through goals in the 15th and 30th minute. Then Shoulder hit back to even the scores only for the home team to take the lead on the stroke of half-time. Ten minutes into the second period and the visitors were level again. End to end play continued with the keepers the busiest players on the field and then shortly before the end Cottingley scored what they believed was the winning goal only for Shoulder to salvage a point in the final minute. Scorers for Cottingley: a hat trick for M McLafferty and a solo goal for F L Trowers. Shoulders scorers were a brace each for Keith Spence and Simon.
In an even first half Midlands, ex Ferrands ,scored the only goal of the half. In the second period the visitors gradually took control, scoring a further three without reply from Bocking. Scorers not available.
The encounter of newcomers Royal Oak Kly to Stockbridge saw a feast of goals, six in all. The visitors opened the scoring only for the home team to hit back with two goals by the time half-time arrived. Straight from the restart Stockbridge were on level terms and they then took control of play to score a further two goals to give them a 4-2 win. The visitors scorers were two for Adrian Dacres and one each for W Fletcher and D Kinley.
Craven were the visitors to Keighley Victoria in what turned out to be a game of two halves with the home team having the better of the first half exchanges and deserved their one goal lead at the break. For the first ten minutes they were the better team with their opponents appearing to have little interest in play and they were unlucky not to have increased their lead. Then in a breakaway Craven scored and from then on it was they who dictated play, scoring a further two goals to take all three points. Scorers for Craven, two for A Whiteoak and one for H Peacock. Victoria scorer was J Lawrence.
St Annes Celtic were too strong for Keighley Unt young team who put up a spirited performance. They must have the smallest keeper in the league, who despite letting in five goals had a good game. The home team were two up in the first 15 minutes, one from the penalty spot and after these goals St Annes keeper made a good save to prevent UNT from reducing their lead. Then again from a penalty the home keeper made a great save. There were no further goals before the break. In the second half the home team's vast experience told and they found the net a further three times without reply. Consolation for the Keighley UNT team was that they played good football. Scorers were M Athers, D McManus, B McCormack.
Sunday's fixtures - Cottingley v Craven; Skipton v Royal Oak; Shoulder v St Annes; B Cow Bingley v Bocking; Stockbridge v Kly Vic; Kly Unt v Silsden.
