Ilkley - one of the most popular tourist areas in the Bradford district - will have new state-of-the-art toilet facilities next week.
The present toilets in Brook Street have been completely refurbished, at a cost of more than
£100,000, to cater for the thousands of visitors who flock to the town each year, and will be re-opened to the public from next Tuesday.
Improvements will include an attendant, baby changing facilities and full disabled toilets which will be free to RADAR key holders. Once the work is completed, they will then be opened every day, 8.30am to 7.30pm from Mondays to Saturdays and 9.30am to 6.30pm on Sundays.
Coun Anne Hawkesworth, executive member for the Environment, said: "The refurbishment of these facilities represents a significant investment in the town and shows our commitment to ensuring that people of all ages and backgrounds will continue to see Ilkley as a pleasant place to visit.
"It is important that the facilities are kept to a high standard and that is why we intend to have an attendant on the premises full-time. There will be a 20p charge, which is the standard amount for similar facilities throughout the country. I believe people will be prepared to pay to use the loos if they are in good condition."
