The other match will be a Battle of the Sexes, where world no 3 Carol Owens will fight it out against the British Universities Champion and top local player Ben Rickaby.
Before these matches start local players will have the opportunity to get on court and play these players. Players will need to register early as numbers will be limited. As well as the matches, Dunlop/Slazenger will have their latest range of squash rackets available to use and they will be offering a number of on the day specials.
Tickets will cost only £10 and this includes a buffet super after the matches, where the players will have a question and answer session. Contact the Ilkley Tennis and Squash Club to book tickets and for more information phone Robbie Burnett at the club on 01943 607 182. Tickets will be limited.
This is a great way for the squash club to start the up coming squash season. Squash has been going from strength to strength this season, things look promising. The club has entered more teams in the various inter-club squash leagues, this season for the first time, the club has three teams in the Junior Harrogate squash leagues, two in the under-17s and one in the under-13s.
The junior squash courses, which proved to be so popular last season, are about the start and already there has been a huge increase in numbers participating. This year will see a number of new courses which will involve more of the club coaches. After the success of the junior matches last season, more have been organised for this season.
With the interest in squash so high, it is hoped that this season will prove to be as successful, if not more, than last season. For more information regard squash at Ilkley, contact Robbie Burnett.
