MRS ANNIE SIMMONS, of Boundary Avenue, Sutton, has supplied this class picture at Eastwood council school, Keighley, in July 1930.
She appears as young Annie Lever and remembers the names of most of the other girls:
Janey Betts, Edith Haw, Jessie Wilson, Alma Sawley, Ethel Smith, Freda Sugan, May Slater, Mary Potterton, Annie Whitaker and Ethel O'Neill.
The boys she remembers as Albert Redman, Alfred Wright, Harry Padgett, Jim Redman, George Atley, Ernest Heaton, Jesse Slater, Kenneth Park, John Tatham, Lionel Parsons and Bernard Buxton.
Eastwood was one of the original board schools built after Keighley's adoption of the Elementary Educ-ation Act of 1870, serving one of the expanding areas of town. It opened at the beginning of 1878 with accommodation for over 900 children.
