Redhill U-16s 20, Albion 6 - Redhill played some fast aggressive rugby and showed why they are one of the top Yorkshire sides. Directed by an excellent stand-off and powerful forward play they scored 4 times in the first half with no response from the Keighley side.
Without a well-marshalled defence there could have been more conceded but there was excellent defensive work from Eddie Wilson, Nicky Lister, John Paipala and James Robinson.
In the second half Redhill scored again but then Bingley started to make some progress. Indiscipline by the home side cost them possession and ground. Then following from the excellent work of Eddie Wilson, Matt Steel and James Bargett in attack the Keighley side never stopped working during the second half.
All this effort paid off by Matt Steel putting Alistair Beaumont in for the try which was converted by Nicky Wilson. With a little more self belief the Keighley side would have scored more points. However all this is character building and it is only a matter of time before they claim their first points in the Premier Division.
This weekend Keighley Albion and Bingley U-16s are away to Wyke in the Yorkshire Cup.
