Embarrassed Leeds United officials today vowed to remove a rogue website which links Bradford City enquiries straight to the Elland Road club.

Bantams fans found that by mistakenly keying in the club's official internet address www.bradfordcityfc.co.uk as www.bradfordcityfc.com they were redirected to the Leeds site.

City chairman Geoffrey Rich-mond said: "We've spoken to Peter Ridsdale at Leeds who is very apologetic. Although the website is run by an outside company and not directly by the club, he has promised to get it sorted out."

City believe the address was set up as a joke by a rival supporter and Planetfootball.com, who run the Leeds website, may be asked to investigate.

It can cost between £50 to £100 to 'rent' an internet site and often 'cyber-squatters' will snap up a well-known brand name hoping to 'sell' them back to a company or individual for a profit.

Richmond said: "There's no problem with copyright as long as it gets cleared up quickly."
