ANGRY residents are considering holding a public meeting to discuss controversial plans for flats which they claim would overshadow their properties.
As reported last week, residents are upset about plans to build flats at the old St Gabriel's Boys' Home off Scotland Lane, Horsforth. They claim that Wimpey have done little to revise the plans which were vehemently opposed by residents when they were originally submitted in spring.
Resident and town councillor Mick Grubb, who is supporting the protesters, said: "We're talking about holding a public meeting. The developers have come back with plans that have barely changed and are still unacceptable."
City Councillor Chris Townsley (Lib Dem, Horsforth) said: "These proposals are worse than the original ones and I've asked the planning department to throw them out. They are contemptuous of the residents and the flats look hideous.
"They have added skylights on all sides which leads me to assume that there will be more beds, and so more traffic and more problems.
"Usually when developers go away and come up with a revised scheme things improve, but this certainly isn't the case here."
