A PROJECT to provide a house in Ilkley for three young people with learning disabilities is nearing completion this week.
Organisers of the Churches Together in Ilkley Millennium Project say they have made an offer on a house near the centre of Ilkley and are hoping to move three youngsters in by the end of November.
"There are some legal
complications at the moment but we hope to have the residents in by the end of next month," said the Reverend Peter Sheasby, of Ben Rhydding Methodist Church.
"We already have two young people ready to move in, one of whom has Down's Syndrome."
The project received an added boost this week with a donation of over £3,000 - money raised from a giant book sale held in the
town.
"Altogether about £25,000 has been raised for the project and we are really pleased with the extra money from the book sale.
"The project has really brought the churches together in Ilkley and we will be delighted to see our millennium project completed in the year 2000."
