Something new is brewing in Goose Eye - something guaranteed to get real ale drinkers flocking to the hamlet again.
A decade after the popular Goose Eye Brewery left for new pastures, Turkey Inn landlord Harry Brisland has started to roll out the beer barrels once again.
He has opened the Turkey Inn Brewery in the back room of the popular real ale hostelry.
Harry, 47, has been contemplating the idea of opening his own back room brew house since he took over the pub 11 years ago.
He says: "I worked for John Smith's and Tetley's before I came here.
"It was always an ambition of mine to have a go at brewing my own beer.
"My friend Paul Briscoe, who runs his own brewery at Otley, has shown me the ropes and helped me through the first production run.
"I am still getting used to the methods but so far the results have been pretty good and the feedback from customers has been very positive."
The first result of Harry's labours is the appropriately titled Turkey Bitter.
It's an amber coloured ale with a fruity and hoppy taste that varies between three and six per cent in strength.
Made using a combination of Styrian and Challenger hops, the beer takes between five and six days to brew and another three days to settle in the cellar before it is served to customers at £1.70 a pint. And it has proved to be a big success, with regulars gobbling down the ale with gusto.
"We started selling it last week and most people who have tried it have come back for another pint, which is always a good sign," says Harry.
To accommodate the large metal mashing tun, fermenting vessel and boiler, Harry turned from landlord to caver to oversee the excavation of a bank at the rear of a pub to provide the required space.
Appropriately enough the Grassington-based Upper Wharfe-dale Fell Rescue Association will receive all the profits from tours of the micro-brewery.
Harry's predecessor at the pub, Bryan Eastell, set up the Goose Eye Brewery in 1979 in an old paper mill across the road.
After a decade of brewing popular tipples like Goose Eye Bitter he moved to new premises in Ingrow in 1991.
