Pioneering work by Keighley College with A-level students has helped one of its tutors land a prestigious national position.
Ken Hargreaves, the college's A-level manager, has been appointed as an external moderator for the Government's Key Skills initiative.
He will be visiting schools and colleges across Yorkshire to check on the quality of other colleges' Key Skills work.
The Government wants students to develop Key Skills in communication, information technology and numeracy while studying for A-levels.
The intention is that they will be able to show they have these important life skills when they apply to universities.
Keighley College is "ahead of the game" with Key Skills because it has been delivering them with A-level students for the six years.
This experience led to Mr Hargreaves being appointed an external moderator by ASDAN, one of the national bodies accrediting Key Skills.
Mr Hargreaves is pictured with Keighley College students who gained Key Skills certificates this summer, and general education faculty manager Jenny Pearman.
