GAME: Nightmare Creatures 2
Wander around London's streets and you might bump into the odd MP, David Beckham pushing little Brooklyn.... or a zombie. It would be unfair to make any comparisons, even if Beck's haircut is as horrifying as anything found in this new PlayStation game.
There are gruesome creatures around every corner as the player wanders through catacombs, cemeteries and mysterious museums. The monsters in Konami's game look even more ghastly after our hero uses his trusty axe to slice off their arms, legs and heads.
Nightmare Creatures 2 is definitely not a game for kids, offering fearsome fun on vast levels set in London and Paris. The player controls Herbert Wallace as he wreaks violent vengeance on a demonic scientist.
On the way to the final showdown there are 30 different creatures to fight and several combat combos to master.Movement is Lara Croftish, though not so smooth or varied, and though the theme is similar to Silent Hill and Resident Evil there's more action.
Nightmare Creatures 2 is not a perfect game but it's a diverting hack-em-up that should please fans of horror adventures.
