Stump Cross.......3
Otley Town........1
After two good performances against Marsden Otley Town once again displayed their inconsistency with a wretched first-half display which but for a number of outstanding saves by Taylor, including one penalty save, could have led to an embarrassing scoreline.
The home side were much sharper and appeared to have twice as many men as Town as they repeatedly pulled them a part. Stump Cross were soon two goals in front and only a fine overhead kick by Lunn and the superb Taylor kept the score to a respectable if undeserved 2-1 at the break.
To Otley's credit the second-half display was much better and they deserved a share of the spoils after two goalline clearances from Wolfenden and Grice efforts together with an audacious Redman chip from 25 yards that came back off the bar.
Unfortunately, it was not to be and the home side broke away in the last minute to seal the points.
This was a valuable lesson to the young Otley side showing that you have to play for the full 90 minutes to have a chance at this level but the second-half display highlighted once again then when they do work hard and pass the ball they are a match for anyone in the league and should not be languishing in the lower reaches of the division.
On the plus side Taylor played superbly well, Barron had a hand in everything good the away side produced without finding the killer final pass and Wolfenden was solid in defence and passed the ball well which can not be said of many of his team mates.
l Otley continue their quest for survival with a trip to Golcar on Saturday meet at 12.45pm.
OTLEY TOWN A............7
BASS SOCIAL................2
Otley Town A rebounded from a defeat by the bottom club last week with this convincing victory against the top club.
With Blair, Budden and McCarthy returning from higher grade football and Pearson and Freeman recovering from injury Otley were able to field a near full strength side.
Otley were fast out of the traps pressurising their opponents from the very first minute, taking the lead through a well worked short corner routine which saw Gilmartin finish clinically with a far post header. Otley went two goals up with Tunley off the pitch having treatment for a cut head following a defensive lapse by the Bass back four.
Bass pulled one goal back from a corner after Otley failed to take a number of opportunities to clear the ball. Encouraged by this goal Bass lifted their game a notch but failed to disloge the well organised Otley outfit before the referee blew for half- time.
On commencing the second-half Otley scored by way of a long through ball from McCarthy which Blair finished off with style to score his second of the game. Otley then went through a period where they looked like scoring every time they attacked. Gilmartin contributed his second goal of the game, Blair completed his hat trick and went on to add two further goals to complete a five goal haul.
Bass scored a late consolation as the game drew to an end with Otley dominating in a manner reflective of the score line.
This was a quality performance by Otley against the champions elect which augurs well for the end of the season run in which will see Otley challenging for two cups as well as promotion.
l On Saturday Town Reserves visit Pateley Bridge for a 3pm kick-off. The venue is yet to be announced as Pateley Bridge's ground is restricted due to foot and mouth.

Queensbury U-10s A.......5
Otley Town U-10s A.......3
A match of real quality, played at a good tempo, was only decided in Queenbury's favour in the final two minutes. Otley started the brighter, passing the ball well through midfield but despite several half-chances, couldn't quite score.
Queensbury then moved up a gear and began making a game of it. They opened the scoring with a soft goal then midway through the half 'keeper Simon Harris, who has had a fine season, allowed a shot to slip through his hands.
At 2-0 down they managed to pull a goal back when Matthew McGlinchey scored from close range. Then with half-time approaching, he laid on an equaliser for striking partner Murray Simm, following a fine team move. It was the least Otley deserved.
The second-half was just as close as the first. Then Josh Waite was caught
in possession and Queensbury took advantage to restore their lead. Within minutes, Waite made amends with a fantastic right-wing dribble, his cross stylishly put away by Simm.
After that, it was anybody's match. Jack Wood and Waite were superb in midfield as was Matthew Waring in defence. Adam Walker went close with a driven shot but Otley were caught twice in a minute and lost a game they could easily have won. It was rough justice for an otherwise good performance.
Queensbury U-10s B......1
Otley Town U-10s B......3
This match was played at a slower pace to the first but nevertheless was
just as close and entertaining. Most of the first-half was played in Otley territory - 'keeper Jimmy Garner Currie making several stops to keep the opposition at bay.
The defence, marshalled by the impressive Chris Baker, Louis Christoforou and David Smith had their work cut out early on. It took Queensbury the best part of 20 minutes to finally break the deadlock but they were well worth the interval lead.
In the second period Baker and Garner Currie swapped shirts and the introduction of Toby William added impetus in midfield. Otley had the better of the second-half and levelled through William.
Callum Shaw went close with a long range effort and although Queensbury had their moments, Otley were certainly the more dangerous. Several half-chances fell the way of Sean Brotherton, whilst Lloyd Almond created much on the right.
Then out of nothing, Garner Currie turned his defender and from distance hit a fierce drive into the roof of the net. Five minutes from the end William scored an almost identical goal - his second in a lively performance - to secure a well-deserved win for Otley.
