Wharfedale and Aireborough Judo Club members had a very successful day at the Yorkshire and Humberside closed Judo Championships which were held at the Richard Dunn Sports Centre, Bradford, on Sunday, March 25, winning nine medals.
Adam Firth won the Gold Medal in the boys' 50kg category, the third successive time he has been a gold medallist at this event.
Michael Bowmer won the men's 81kg category, the ninth time Michael has been a gold medallist at this event, but this one was after a gap of nine years.
Silver Medals were won by Simon Cresswell in the boys' 38kg category and Ben Clayton in the boys' 73kg category. Bronze Medals were won by Sara Firth in the girls' 36kg category; Grant Creswell at 30kg, Thomas Cresswell at 38kg, David Cresswell at 46kg and Joseph Selman at 50kg.
There was obviously a significant contribution from the Cresswell family and Ben Hopton deserves a mention as he lost a fight for a bronze medal to clubmate David Cresswell.
Altogether a very successful day for the club.
