A Bradford policeman hunting a bone marrow donor for his sick daughter today called on the public for help.
PC Dean Maddocks urged people to visit a donor open day, saying it could be the breakthrough needed to save eight-year-old Alice.
The Bradford South officer has already launched a website to trace the perfect match needed for Alice after she was diagnosed with the rare and life-threatening disease Severe Aplastic Anaemia.
PC Maddocks said the site received around 1,500 new "hits" after being featured in the T&A last month.
Alice's only hope of a cure is a bone marrow transplant and PC Maddocks has organised a one-off donor day where people can give a blood sample to deduce if they are a life-saving match.
The quick and simple process places them on the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust register as a potential donor for Alice and fellow sufferers.
"This can save weeks of delays which can occur in the normal registering process," said PC Maddocks. "Time is such an important factor in Alice's case."
The donor day takes place at the Dewsbury Rams Rugby League Club, Owl Lane, Dewsbury, between 10am and 5pm on Sunday.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a donor should just go along on the day.
