Silsden JUNIORS are to hold their fourth six-a-side tournament over two days in June.
The event has grown over the years and about 650 players are expected to take part this year with teams travelling from Hull, Blackburn, Burnley, Doncaster and Leeds to take on the starts of the local junior leagues.
Oakworth Under-9s A drew 3-3 with Shipley despite never taking the lead. They battled well to keep coming back with goals from Alex Thomas (2) and Ben Lamb, but Tom 'The Cat' Smith was awesome in goal.
Oakworth Under-9s B had a cracking 0-0 draw with Shipley. Both teams were well matched in all departments with man of the match Aaron Dowse excellent in midfield.
Oakworth Under-8s B easily beat Queensbury 8-0. In a fine first half performance Ryan Humphries and Jonathon Greenwood (2) put Oaks 3-0 up. Further goals followed from Jamie O'Neill (2), Max Lofthouse (2) and another from Greenwood as he completed his hat-trick. Man of the match was the ever-improving Daniel Salvato.
Oakworth Under-11s were much too good for Menston, beating them 14-1. Seven goals were scored in each half with goals from man of the match Adam Marks (4), Thomas Clark (2), Adam Spencer, Ben Smith and four from the excellent Paul Owens.
Oakworth Under-12s lost 2-0 at home to league leaders Bingley, a win that gave them the championship. Oakworth held out for most of the first half but went in 1-0 down. The second half was very even and either team could have scored with chances at both ends but Bingley clinched the vital goal and the championship. Joe Judson and Nicholas Twigg were shared the man of the match awards.
Oakworth Under-13s secured victory over a good Skipton team were goals from J Clewes, N Trowers, J Thompson and man of the match Thomas Wallbank.
Long Lee Under-11s gained revenge for their only league defeat with a battling 2-1 victory over Weston Lane. They were one down at half time but never let their heads drop and goals from Kris Gott and a fine solo effort from Keifer Liddon saw them home. Ravi Patel was man of the match.
Long Lee Under-10s took on Wyke twice over the weekend with the A team on the wrong end of 6-2 scoreline. Tim Quinlan and Sam Rooke were on target in Saturday's game. Sunday's contest was much more even with Long Lee earning a point from the 1-1 draw. Tom Tetley scored Long Lee's goal.
The Under-10s B team went down 4-2 at Wyke in a game which was marred by a number of dubious refereeing decisions. Matthew Morris and Connor Flaherty scored for the Keighley side. The team battled hard in Sunday's return fixture going down 2-1. Zachary Pearson claimed the goal after a goalmouth scramble.
Long Lee Undxer-9s A played some of their best football of the season in an action packed weekend. They beat Cross Roads 2-1 on Saturday with goals from Jack Pearson and Myrosh Allen. The man of the match honours were shared by Timothy Sale and Max Kidd.
Sunday saw the again in overdrive playing good flowing football to defeat Bingley A 4-3. Goals came from jack Pearson, Daniel Morrisroe, Myrosh Allen and Craig Donegan who was also man of the match.
Long Lee Under-9s B moved even closer to the Group D championship after a busy week. ON Wednesday they beat a strong Silsden team 1-0 with the only goal coming from Thomas Arthurs. Man of the match Nial Burke pulled off the save of the game to keep another clean sheet.
On Sunday they played impressive one-touch football to beat Bingley B 2-0. Matthew Pearson was on the end of both goals and was man of the match. R J Gaughan and Ryan Presland were outstanding in defence and Nail Burke kept his clean sheet record intact with an outstanding save for a well worked Bingley free kick.
Sutton Under-10s went down to an early goal at Nab Wood but came back strongly after good work from the Nab Wood keeper and hitting the woodwork several times. They eventually broke them down to score six goals with strikes from Zak Peat (2), Michael Jeff (2), Joe Dawson and Matthew Parker. Bradley Fletcher took the match award with a good display in defence.
Silsden Under-12s A beat Menston Hot Shots 7-0 with a rampant second half. They wre 2-0 up at half time but stepped up a gear after the break. Scorers for Silsden were Andrew North (4), Lee McGowan, Clark Greenwood and Luke Scott who together with good performances from Ross Croad, Tom Hill and William Maisey kept their 100 per cent record alive.
Silsden Under-8s A beat Idle 4-2 with man of the match Jake Ingham socring a hat-trick. Alistair Halliday added the other goal.
Silsden Under-8s B went down 5-2 to Shipley with man of the match Sam Hill scoring both goals.
Silsden Under-9s A produced a good all round team performance to beat Cowling 3-0. Scorers were John Gulson, Adam Sessford and Jake Waddington.
Silsden Under-9s B slipped to a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of Otley. Elliott Shepherd was man of the match and goals were scored by Josh banks and Nick Brown.
Silsden Under-13s A beat Burley 1-0 thanks to a Daniel McNulty strike. Gavin Shearer was manof the match in a good all round team performance.
Oakworth Under-16s beat Shipley B 2-1 with goals from Tyrone Upson and Andy Hawkins. It was a great result after a hard fought game.
Long Lee Under-14s saw their winning run come to an end despite a hat-trick from man of the match Stefan Risidi. They were finally beaten 4-3 by nab Wood despite a fighting performance.
