SUNDAY'S game was a sensational advertisement for NFP rugby league. Both teams produced some outstanding football for one of the biggest league gates that we have enjoyed for some time.

The obvious disruption caused by the absence, through injury, of Martin Wood and Darren Carter was further compounded by the loss of Nathan Antonik with the first minute. However, I felt that every player gave his all and my only disappointment was the negative journalistic comment that referred to us as one-dimensional, which betrayed either a lack of knowledge or lack of respect.

THE PLAYERS were obviously disappointed with the result, but having reviewed the video together at last Tuesday's training session, we are more confident than ever in our ability not only to compete with, but to beat any of the teams that we have met already, should we encounter them in the play-offs.

THE PLAYERS and myself would like to thank everyone who came down to support us. It produced a great atmosphere and we are confident that with such an outstanding level of support we can achieve a good position in the play-offs.

THIS WEEKEND'S trip to Whitehaven means that we do not have time to brood on our defeat. We will have to focus our full attention on a Whitehaven side that is rapidly improving under coach Paul Cullen. It is vital that we perform to the best of our ability if we are to get the result we want.

A DECISION on whether to include Darren Carter or Nathan Antonik will be left until the last possible moment, but with the reserve grade in such outstanding form there is no need to take unnecessary risks with any player. There is still a great deal of rugby to be played between now and the end of the season.

TO HELP us continue with our youth policy Matty Walker and his girlfriend, Kerry, proudly announced the birth of a baby boy - Jackson - on Sunday morning. Our congratulations go to them and we wish them every happiness in the future.
